Government releases EOI for Christchurch transfer

Today the Government issued an Expression of Interest to Community Housing Providers interested in taking over ownership of up to 2500 social houses in Christchurch. As part of this deal, the new provider will be required to provide at least 150 additional new social housing places.

Home building consents rebounded in February 2017, but were up only slightly from February 2016, Stats NZ said today. A total of 2,418 new homes were consented in February 2017 – up 1.6 percent from February 2016.

New landlord for 1140 Tauranga HNZ tenants

From next month, Accessible Properties will take over 1138 social houses and tenancies owned by Housing New Zealand. “This is the first regional, large-scale transfer of Government-owned social houses to a community housing provider. Statistics New Zealand this week released updated projections of population growth for NZ regions and local authority areas out to 2043. Almost all areas have seen improvements on the back of higher net immigration flows, but still there are 17 areas where population decline is projected.
